CasteWatchUK held its third conference on Tuesday 6th November, 2007 on raising awareness about Caste Discrimination occurring in the UK. The conference was held at The Palace of Westminster, London, SW1A 0AA. Please click here to view conference details.
The Westminster Conference addressed issues relating to incorporation of Caste based discrimination into British Law. The conference was attended and supported by Parliamentarians, Human Rights activists, Lawyers, Academics and Community Leaders. A full report of the conference proceedings will be published shortly.
CasteWatchUK held its second one-day conference under the banner 'Fighting Caste discrimination in the UK'. on 15 July 2007 at Sandwell Council House, Oldbury in the West Midlands. The event attracted guest speakers and attendees from the UK and beyond.
The Sandwell Conference Programme included a diverse range of speakers. The subjects and testimonials covered a gamut of caste issues in the United Kingdom, related experiences of caste-based discrimination here, examined concerns and reflected academic research about the trickle-down of caste prejudice and discrimination into this society. The Conference concentrated on how best to eliminate the poison seed of caste discrimination before it sends down wider roots and sought solutions for a fairer society unblemished by caste injustice and discrimination.
